The Science Policy Hill Day program prepares members of the Yale community to communicate scientific evidence effectively and engage with federal policymakers. Through workshops, small working groups, and meetings with congressional offices in Washington, D.C., participants learn how to bring their expertise into policy conversations.

From scientific expertise to effective advocacy
Scientific evidence can only inform policy when it is communicated clearly, concisely, and with an understanding of how policy decisions are made.
The Science Policy Hill Day program provides practical opportunities to develop these skills. In the fall, we offer two workshops open to the entire Yale community on communicating science effectively, particularly to policymakers. In the spring, selected participants form teams, develop focused policy asks, and complete three workshops in preparation for meetings with congressional offices in Washington, D.C.
